Day 1 Saskatoon to Vancouver

Bryan left this morning at 11:00am, bound for Vancouver. His only real concern was getting out of Vancouver in one piece and in good time. His bike had been well packed by the guys at the Bike Doctor in Saskatoon. He used his paniers (saddlebags) as his carry-ons. The bike weighed under 50 pounds and each panier about 22 pounds.

When he arrived at the Vancouver airport, he collected the bike and reassembled it. He was soon on his way, following the route provided by a new friend. He went south, crossed two big bridges that gave a bit of a thrill and continued towards Abbotsford.

When he called tonight at 10:00pm, he had covered about 120 km in 3 hours, averaging 30kmph with a slight tail wind. He said that the traffic on the #1 highway was nuts and that he was having a hard time getting hold of Matt and Sarah Kaminski. He was just 20 minutes out of Chilliwack but wanted to find their place soon.

He was shirtless most of the day but had put on his jacket when he called. The mountains were in sight and it was getting cold.

I'll find out tomorrow night how he made out overnight. Did he camp or was he able to find Matt's?

I will try to keep you all updated as often as possible. Please keep Bryan in your prayers.
